Help Recent apps and related things

Can anyone explain whether recent apps are the ones you just recently opened or these are the ones running in background? I have set my phone to kill all apps except one or two automatically when my screen goes black. But when after a while I open battery usage history there are still apps showing how much battery they are consuming despite I didn't open them after awakening my phone. Then I can manually kill them. I have Huawei Mate 8. Can anyone explain what are the recent apps, power intensive apps and related terminology?

Recent apps lists both running and ran apps. Swipping them away closes the app. No real need to use an app killer in my opinion as they tend to cause more problems than they claim to fix. ;)

Try it out, run a game and home button back to your home screen, open recent apps and swipe it away. When you start the app up it will need to reload entirely.

I just want to understand the supposed functioning way for recent apps, power intensive apps, power usage firewal. Theorerically...

Recent apps is basically a history of all used apps (up to how much the phone can remember anyway).

Force killing apps like you are doing will increase battery usage and contribute to increasing lag on the phone over a period of time.
