Recent battery drain and warm phone?

Over the past couple of days I have noticed my phone getting quite warm while in my pocket. It would get to about 100-104 degrees. My battery ifs draining much faster as well. I noticed there is quite a few wake locks in the android system 100 0and the phone 400. Any thoughts?

It may be an app or system process gone wild that is draining your battery.

Would you be so kind as to download the System Tuner application and look at the "Used CPU%" in the Task Manager with "System" and "Kernel" turned on in the bottom toolbar?

In addition to usage by apps, System Tuner displays the usage of the individual processes within the Android OS.

Thank you for taking the time to use System Tuner :)

There is a lot of talk on the Internet about the gsiff daemon causing battery drain ("gs" refers to Galaxy S). Apparently the gsiff daemon was added as part of a recent update to the Galaxy software to assist with location services for apps like Navigation and Maps. But the gsiff daemon goes into a battery-sucking endless loop even when apps like Navigation and Maps are not running.

Rooted users can kill the gsiff daemon by renaming its file in system/bin.

Non-rooted users can *temporarily reduce* the problem by disabling the Navigation and Maps apps and all the other apps that use navigation services - but eventually the problem will return.

Any guesses as to how long it will take Samsung to fix the problem? :p
