Help Recent call list appears on new phone

I have 2 sony xperia phones. The new one has not got a SIM card yet, but I have used it on wifi, signed into my google account, updated firmware, and installed some apps. The recent call list now has a number of calls from my other phone dating back to before I took delivery of the new one.
How can this happen?

I think they're all backed up to Google servers and associated with your Google account (the same as contacts).
I actually never knew call lists did that but I'm not surprised and it's pretty damn cool :thumbsupdroid:

Thanks funkylogik. Now I've looked in Android settings and find under 'Backup and Reset' the (default checked ) option to 'Backup app data, Wi-Fi passwords and other settings to Google servers' . I guess 'other settings' must include call lists but I've not found anything anywhere on the web so far that explicitly says so. (Searching with Google - who should know!). There is of course a 'Backup and Restore' app that came with the phone that doesn't offer Google as a backup location.

Guess I need to decide whether I'm happy with Google knowing who I call and who calls me as well as who I email, and what I search for. I might have felt better about this if it was explicitly stated somewhere...

Yeah know what you mean mate but the way I see it, what would be the problem with Google knowing who I've been chatting to on the phone? Especially since my carrier already knows.. :thumbsupdroid:
Plus I'm pretty sure you check a box when you log into your phone signing your rights away.
Doesn't bother me tbh.
I have nothing too serious to hide and it's worth the invasion of my privacy for what I get in return
