Root Recent extreme slow system/restarting randomly

xazzu

Lurker
Hey guys, my wife's Elite has recently (in the last week or so) been acting super slow to respond and will restart randomly after a period of just freezing up. The only big change was installing SwiftKey (she liked it on mine and didn't really like Swipe as much) and update some other general apps.

I'm looking for advice on a course of action. I was considering rooting, installing cwm, and trying to clear the dalvik cache just to see if that would help at all. I'm trying to keep the changes to a minimum and would prefer to avoid going back to stock and/or installing a new ROM.

I'm putting this out there now so that I can get some opinions before I try futzing with it tonight. It's very frustrating for her, and I'd like to solve this quickly! Thanks for any tips or hints.

You could try rooting and overclocking it alittle. Clearing the dalvik probable will not do much in this case but cleaing the normal cache with cache cleaner might. It you do go on and put cwm on your phone its really simple to flash a rom. A debloted gingerbread rom should speed up your phone considerably. But if you don't want to flash the rom then don't its your choice.

Is there a cache cleaner you suggest?

Just so it's clear, I'm comfortable with rooting, flashing, and general fiddling with phones and tablets, I just try to keep that to my stuff and not to jack her stuff in the rare case something goes wrong :D

I was also considering, after rooting, getting Titanium and pulling a few worthless things off, as well.
