Help Reception Issues: Fix on the way!??

I just experienced these reception issues recently. When traveling, bars went to zero for extended time - wife's phone had three bars. Rebooted Epic 4G and magically had three bars! Also while visiting family in a marginal coverage area, lost connection and it didn't come back until I rebooted. This is unacceptable. This will probably be my last Samsung phone unless this is fixed.

Has anyone gotten the OTA update yet? My phone says "Your system is currently up to date." when I try to "Update Android" as per the Sprint instructions.

Since they are only turning this on at a rate of 10% per day, you have a 90% chance today of *not* having this available. You'd have to be really lucky to get this today.

BTW, if you get this a week from Saturday, don't both buying a lottery ticket. ;)

I chose not to root this phone, so I cannot say for sure. But, when I had my EVO I was not able to get OTA updates... Ya gotta flash a new ROM if rooted, I would bet.

Amazingly, I got it today, which is unbelievable because I'm usually the last to get updates. Anyway, I haven't installed it yet because I was waiting to hear first from others that it's stable.

I had the LOS bug only once, and that was about a week after I activated the phone back in October. Since then, no problems whatsoever, so no sense in fixing what ain't broke.

Oh, I'm completely stock still.

Will this include a gps fix I really hope so I havent been able lock on any sat. And gps fix dosent work for me

That's odd. GPS hasn't been a problem for me, other than it goes away every once in a while. I just disable GPS and enable it again and it works. That's not working for you?

Got it and installed it. Seems stable so far. But my phone was already stable. Never had issues others talked about.

Nothing man even on fair conditions. It just keeps saying searching for gps, someone recommended gps fix from the market but no luck

There was talk in previous posts about GPS issues being related to encrypting the phone. If your phone is encrypted then it would interfere with the GPS.

This update also fixed the swype issue, at least on my phone, where single letter words like I or a wouldn't auto space.

^^
Thanks!

Of course, I post that, then I get the update notification like 6 hours later. lol

Either way, I must have been last on the list, cuz I tried to "update firmware" several times over the last week.

Ohh well.. Glad its here. :)

Just got my notice this morning - been checking every day with no luck, but it was waiting for me when I woke up this morning. Can verify that Swype is fixed - automatically adds a space before "a" and "I" (and auto-capitalizes "i" to "I").

You guys know you can update manually right?

[ACS][How to] Manually update to EK02 Android 2.3.6!

Thanks for posting this. I followed the instructions last night and it was easy.

I haven't noticed any major improvements with the update, but the early indications are that the data signal is a lot more stable. Previously, it would jump around like crazy, even with the phone stationary. I had times where it would go from a full signal to no signal and everywhere in between, randomly changing every couple of seconds. Now it's showing a stable signal, with only small changes up or down. I only had the LOS issue once or twice, but I did seem to have a weak signal in a lot of areas. I'm hoping this improves that and the early signs are that it may not improve the actual signal, but will help with keeping it stable.

There are a few more small changes with the update, but they seem to be more aesthetic oriented. Now, there is a blue shading that shows up when you scroll to the top or bottom of a page. And there are now arrows that show up on all four sides of the lock screen when go to swipe it out of the way. Nothing major, but some small things to make it feel a little different.
