Help reception problems after factory data reset

I did a factory data reset on my samsung galaxy s3 because this was my son's old phone and I did not want all of the games and other stuff on it since I was now using it. When my son was using this phone it had great reception. Now I have little to zero reception. Even when I put it on wifi!! My husband has a samsung also and gets great reception!! We can stand side by side, he'll have perfect reception and I have none! Did I do something when I did the reset?

What carrier are you on (Sprint, Verizon, etc)? If you swapped the phone out and now using it have you updated the profile and the PRL? Has the phone been rooted and a custom rom installed?
