FWIW, my T-Mobile branded Motorola Defy consistently achieves 10-15dBm better signal on AT&T 3G than my AT&T branded Note. I'm in a "full bar" area (Balt/DC corridor) but the Note will often see -75dBm to -95dBm. I have not had an issue with connecting calls however I have noticed increased battery drain, while idle, where the Note's signal is only in the 80a.
