The plug has one wide edge and one narrow edge. Make sure you're matching the wide and narrow on the plug with the wide and narrow on the tab's charging port.
Look into the charging port. That bar should be in the center of the port. If it's leaning to one side or the other the plug won't go in. VERY CAREFULLY, using the tip of a pointed wooden toothpick, try to bend it back to the center.
