Recomendations from a Verizon hopper

Hey guys. New user here. Just curious about thingz here.

I plan on switching from Verizon to MetroPCS here because I am just tired of overpaying yo get told to bend over. I am familar with Android (love it!) and currently have a Droid X2. Seems buggy compaired to my X1.

Just curious as to what kind of phones people would recomend? Keep the X2 and flash it? Any similar phones in size/power? I use it mostly for movies, some gameing, talk of corse and tethering when I need to use my laptop and am not enar WiFi. (I have to get my SWToR on somewhere, ya know!)

Also, I want to root it if possible and open to unlocked phones. And any flash options besides a local retailer that can do it if possible. I'ma warrenty voider lol
