Root Recommended PRL?

I recently flashed the Sprint 60687 PRL and it seems pretty fast. I also flashed 01115 PRL and it was about the same. Oddly though after flashing 60687, in Settings->About Phone->Status under "PRL Version" it says 21087, whiles flashing 01115 does change it to 01115. However I seem to see a speed increase in both.

Anyways just wondering what PRL versions you guys are using/recommend?

Oh and I have added this to my build.prop:
ro.product.rat=EvDo only

which is supposed to help with speeds as well. Am I just supposed to add it on at the end? Because that is what I did with ES File Explorer.

Thanks for any answers you may have.

From what I understand the evdo only line does nothing, since if you were really forcing evdo only you'd lose voice.

As far as PRL, I tried about 20 different ones last week and noticed no real difference in signal strength or data speeds. A couple of them broke my signal altogether, but the ones that have worked have all been the same otherwise. You may have better luck depending on where you live and the availability of new towers there. (I am in northern California.)

I'm currently using 61677 as it's supposedly the latest Sprint+VMU hybrid PRL, but again, I've seen zero difference.

I'm in NorCal as well and I've seen a significant speed boost(50-150kbps to 450-900kbps) and even with the line there my voice works fine. In fact it's clearer.

Im going to try to flash the PRL in this thread to see if I can get better speeds.

EDIT: Well the PRL in this thread seems about the same as the others I tried. Still a significant improvement over the stock PRL.

2nd EDIT: I've heard good things about 01120.prl but I can't find a working link for one. Was wondering if anyone has it and can link it to me? Thanks.

I'm running Linux, would I need to download Motorola drivers? What about QPST 2.7 Build 366?

I did a Google search but I couldn't find any info on running QPST under Linux. :(

For what it's worth, most long time gurus here say switching PRLs has almost no effect whatsoever.

I ran QPST from an XP virtual machine in VirtualBox running from linux no problem.

Like many others reported, I probably tried 50 different PRL's and saw zero improvement from where I am (southern cali). In particular, many of the PRL's let your phone connect to sprint private towers (which may be those signal boosters people can run in their houses), which makes it look like you have signal - but none of your calls or SMS's will route.

Yeah, that's one of the most annoying things about the Sprint PRL's. You latch on to those femtocells, and your call goes nowhere.

I agree. I am running the 01120 PRL and it does NOTHING. I believe these things are just wastes of time 90% of the time. Went through a LOT of trouble to do it only to find out it was useless. And im in southern PA :/

Where can I get that prl 61677?

If you are going to bother with the PRL from what I understand the ones beginning with 1 are for business accounts and are generally given higher priority. I live in Philadelphia and have never seen any real difference in the dozen or so I have tested, little better in Center City with 1120 but not so much when closer to more residential area's. Don't know if anyone knows anyone with a Sprint iphone?? Would be interested in what PRL sprint uses as I have read they spent a bit of loot beefing up their 3g just for them. Guess I could also just Google it, lol.

I love google LMAO

How to load a custom PRL to a Sprint Iphone to have 3G roaming or Force it to Roam

g60madman-

have you changed your PRL? If so is that the PRL youve used (11114)? Thanks for the help with eveything. I've been work on the owners manual, so far it KICKS ASS. When I'm done you'll get the first copy.

No I have never changed the PRL. After reading that 50% of users don't see a difference I have never taken the time to do it. Looking forward to the manual!

I have done it, for the hopes of actually getting SOME signal at my work, which is an industrial machine shop, and I believe we have a sprint tower close to us. However, I still get no better service. I still have to put my phone on top of the machines computer terminal to get something lol

EDIT: I am using the 1120 PRL

i changed the prl and now im No longer with sprint I got the boot for to much "roaming" and it doesn't have to show it on the phone for it to be "consisted roaming". Sprint sent no warning message or notice just the walking papers

And that is why my PRL is stock...I get what the network offers, and wifi when I need the speed.

yeah, stick with the stock.
Changing PRL does nothing.

Well bumping this thread may be wrong I'm not sure. I am a noob to forums. I have been doing alot of digging the last couple days.. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 3g Touch that has just been getting terrible 3g internet. I live outside of Dayton, OH and was using a Evo 4g on Sprints Network.. Everything was GREAT. Super speedy all the way around. Well I upgraded to the SII cause its a much better phone.. and had been crapped on since. I decided to try flashing PRL's and see what I came up with. Currently I am running a Sprint 11114.prl and this has greatly increased my speed. I bypassed the firewall, flashed to an old prl, and bam.. I went 0.30mbps to an average of 1.30 - 1.76 It's still nothing to sneeze at, but hey, beats what it was.
