Help recorder play back seems weak

My galaxy S5 by Samsung with Verizon seems to record weakly.
The phone is very strong but the "recorder" is weak .
I have tried all the settings like interview etc. but I feel I am the culprit not the phone.
Is there a good way to record noises in a room for example with adequate playback volume?

The S5 I have does not do a very good job of recording conversations.

If you are not within 3 feet of the phone, the audio fades to a very low level. I tried to use my S5 to record some company conferences around a large table and it was useless.

Normal is the best mode and the conversation mode is weakest.
What settings do you use? Do you have a Samsung galaxy S5?

I was not bothered; I thought the sender was confused and just replied to clear any miscommunication up..
