I am after an app that will allow me to record audio that is playing on my phone (moto g3) IE Spotify or YouTube?
Is it possible?
I do it on my PC using my Creative software which generates a wav file.

Yeh, that's called analog hole recording.. FYI https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Analog_hole
Which is something PCs can do, either using software that comes with them or a Creative Sound Blaster card. Basically it's just recording what's being played through the audio channel and speakers. And not a lot different to doing something we did decades ago, recording songs from the radio on a cassette, and hoped the DJs wouldn't talk over them too much :) Definitely illegal, because it's copyright infringement, i.e. you were supposed to go out and buy the records and not record them from the radio!

I don't think you can do the same thing with Android, any recording apps I've seen just use the devices mic, and possibly recording audio from the browser or app that way, which would sound like crap of course. Sort of like holding a cassette recorder's mic. to an FM radio and recording top-40 songs from BBC Radio 1 with it. :D

Thanks guys! I think to be able to do it on a phone/tablet would make it far too convenient with wide spread illegal recordings going on!
But I just thought I would ask.!
