Recover precious internal SD data?

I have a Galaxy Note GT-N7000

I write these lines from my mother's hospital bedside, where my family is on day eight of a 24-hour vigil. She is sadly dying, and I recorded some of her precious last conscious thoughts and songs on my Galaxy Note's internal voice recorder two or three days ago, shortly before she lost the ability to communicate.

The next day, the phone broke. Mid-call, the screen went blank, there was a gentle 'click click click' sound in the earpiece, and that was it. I've not been able to power up, or get any response when charging or plugging in to a laptop since.

Now data loss is usually a pain, but this for me will be something of a tragedy if I've lost those recordings. Can anyone think of a way for me to get those recordings back? I'm pretty sure they are on the internal SD card.

Might there be a way to extract the data from whichever chip is the internal SD card? Or does it sound like there may be any way to repair the phone without destroying the data stored on its internal SD?

Thanks so much for any insight you may be able to offer.

Depends what the problem is with the phone, but repairing it is likely to be cheaper than the alternative, namely sending it to a data recovery company - that can be very expensive.

Thanks - yes, you're probably right. but i assume that 'repairing' would ordinarily mean just replacing the motherboard, which would mean losing the data thereon. do you know any reputable repairers in the UK who would look at repairing without wiping the phone?

do you think i could trust Orange's repair service to respect my wishes not to wipe the phone?

THANKS

Why not contact Samsung directly and see what they say? I would imagine that Orange would only send it off to Samsung for repair in any case. In Europe the Note has two years manufacturer warranty as standard - it's detailed in the warranty booklet that came with the phone. Maybe it is still within warranty. Contact options here....
