Recovering data

hey,
i unfortunately lost by data due to a factory reset. i am trying to use Recuva for recovery but the phone isnt being detected as drive.
kindly guide me way to recover

is the data on the phones memory or an SD card....

All android phones of the cast 4-5 years use MTP for file transfer rather than USB mass storage. Hence the internal storage cannot be mounted as a drive for Recuva to work on.
