Recovering deleted text messages....

Hi

I have been looking all over the forums to find an answer to this, but I stupidly deleted a threat of very important messages from my phone, and I was wondering if there is anyway that I can recover these messages from my phone? I have a HTC Hero it is about 2 years old now.

Please if you know let me know, or perhaps point me in the right direction

There may be a way to recover deleted text messages if you have a phone with a sim card. You want to do this ASAP before the data is overwritten. I don't know anything about the HTC but pasted a couple of links at the end of this reply that describe how to recover.

Also, for the future, you may want to download a text (SMS) backup app from the Android Market. I did a quick search of the market and found these backup apps: SMS Backup +, SMS Backup & Restore, TxtArchive SMS Backup, and backup SMS MMS Photo to Gmail. There are probably more text backup apps than these.

However, you can find many companies that provide this service.

But what if the program isnt compatible with MTP and PTP?? Will this program still recover deleted SMS messages?

Hey dude you can recover deleted text messages from android phones and tablets fairly easily, but you will need some software to do it, thats the only way.

the site also tells you how to recover deleted files from the iphone and ipod too.

It can recover the sms by myself, i just lost the messages yesterday, so i really not know the messages lost for a long time, but just have a try.

As you used android phone, there is no backup of this phone. So when you lost some messages, what you can do may be just to ask for the telecompany for help, or to find some apps to retrieve the deleted messages from your phone.

Unfortunately irrelevant, since (a) SMS are not stored on the SD card and (b) they aren't stored as separate files which can be recovered that way anyway.

Also if the app you are plugging relies on USB Mass Storage that is deprecated in recent android versions, and if you have it (or a card reader) you don't need a special app but can just use any file recovery software (e.g. Recuva).
