After reading many posts reporting difficulties with the upgrade process to Froyo, I did not expect my experience to go smoothly. I first upgraded to the current version of Kies, then followed the instructions carefully. As expected, I got a "failed to upgrade firmware due to an unexpected error. Do you want to run firmware emergency recovery now?" The message indicated that I would need a recovery code that could be obtained later by clicking Tools | Firmware Emergency Recovery Menu.
I was then instructed to disconnect the phone, pull the battery, boot into recovery mode and reconnect the phone which I did. The phone would not reconnect. At this point I called Samsung tech support and wasn't impressed when I was simply told to repeat the procedure. But to my surprise, the upgrade was successful the second time around. Go figure! Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else ran into the recovery code message.
