Introduction:

Team Win Recovery Project 2.1, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. We started from the ground up by taking AOSP recovery and loading it with the standard recovery options, then added a lot of our own features. It

Can this be flashed without a full root?

As far as I know, yes. And It's been tested for boot partition write, which means we can flash custom kernels without using the fastboot method. That was probably the biggest gripe with the HTCdev root method on the 3vo.

Remember, please read as much as you can over at xda about this recovery prior to flashing it!

I haven't rooted mine yet, waiting to see if there are any hardware related problems before I root. So I'll have to read up to get the full picture. :)

Hi guys,

First post here - I usually just read things and try and solve my issues through that. But with this issue I have had no success. I am trying to flash the TWRP recovery, but every time I have done it, recovery never loads. I have tried the ADB method, the Goomanager method and the fastboot method, but everytime I try to boot into recovery it just reloads hboot. Any one else run into this or know how to fix it? I am on a Mac by the way.

Ah, yes I forgot to mention that stuff. Since I have a mac I used Zedomax's root method and then I used the HTC dev method to unlock. My hboot says tampered, but I never took notice if it also said unlocked. Though, I went through the whole Unlock_code.bin thing and then hit 'yes' to unlock my bootloader at the end of that whole HTC dev method.

First things first then, reboot into bootloader and verifty that you are indeed unlocked.

You can also run this program (it will skip htcDEV if you are already unlocked) and it will put a custom recovery on there for you

I would love to do that method, but I only have access to a mac.

And, this must explain it - it says tampered and locked. I went through the whole HTC dev process so thats weird - where could I have gone wrong or where should I go back to?

I just went through and redid the bootloader unlock process and it looks more promising - there was actually a factory reset. So it looks like I should be able to install the TWRP now.

The factory reset makes it seem like it worked. The only way to know for sure would be to reboot into bootloader and check. It should say:

*tampered*
**Unlocked**

Edit:

Glad it worked!! :D
