Root Recovery Question

If I'm on CM7 and I want to flash back to stock, can I just boot into recovery and flash a 2.2.2 stock rom? I know that with my DroidX if I try and flash between 2nd-init and stock roms things can get screwed up and you have to sbf. Is that the case with the Vortex?

If you wipe everything, you should be able to just flash the stock rom. You should still have the custom recovery though.
