Recovery is cwm...which allows you to create/restore backups.

Backups are a complete copy of your system including your user data and apps.

plus cwm let u flash custome rom and creat backup u cant do that with stock recovery

well yea that is the difference between stock recovery and cwm recovery, but i think he was asking what the different terms meant and superr hit it right on the head
