Some time ago I had a problem with randomly appearing pop-ups. They were mostly ads for online games. When I closed the ad, fake recent apps thing would appear. I found out it was caused by an app called 'Recents' (which i certainly didn't download). I uninstalled it and the ads stopped appearing.

Today the thing happened again, and again it's caused by 'Recents'. I'm sure I didn't download it by that name, especially that I haven't downloaded any app in a while. Now I can just delete it again and stop thinking about it, but I'd want to get to the core of the problem ;) The app has an awful lot of permissions, as shown on the screenshots. Also I've nocited the ads show often on opening/closing Play Store, web browser (I'm using UC Browser) or just randomly, when I'm on home screen. Oh, and once it made a shortcut to Play Store on my home screen (didn't try to open it, I just deleted the shortcut).

I hope somebody can help me with it. I'd really prefer not to do the factory reset...

This could be the result of a malicious app. If you don´t want to do a factory reset...If I were you I would get a really good mobile security app from a well know company like Norton as have it scan the phone to see what the problem could be. Sophos, Dr. Web Antivirus, Avast Mobile Security and Lookout all scan your currently installed apps to look for mobile malware.

Get airpush optout app..... Google is your friend! That usually works to stop the airpush - wick is the culprit being your ads... If rooted is also get adaway
