Help Recycle folder in Gallery

i also posted some questions for you to answer as well. ;)

also in post #16 up there, in your screenshot there is nothing that says "recycle", even though you mention this in your initial post?

The point of the screen shot was to answer another question and show what options I had available in the Gallery Settings.

Had nothing to do with a screenshot from the Gallery folders......

that's part of the confusion.

soooo..

can you post up the photo showing your "recycle" folder? again I have a tmobile and we should both have the same thing.

you are using the stock sammy gallery app yes?

This is what it looks like......

ahhhhhhhhhh.... i see said the blind man...

so in my "albums" view, I have like 21 folders. many of them are from the SD card.

are you by chance using an SD card?

if so are you storing your images to SD?

do you have a "recycle" folder on your SD card?

the gallery app is designed to find any folders with photos or videos (the gallery has my whatsapp folders in there) in them, so somewhere on your phone you have a recycle folder...

i think the reason for the confusion was that i thought you had a built in folder that was unique to the gallery app labeled "recycle". you don't. the gallery app has just found that folder somewhere on your card.

this is normal behcvous as the gallery app on my card has found 21 "more albums"

I don't have an SD card.

As I've said before.......
"What I don't understand is why brand new photos that I just shot go to my camera folder and then after a few hours there is one just like it in the "recycle" folder. "

fine you dont have an SD card.
point is the "recycle" folder has been added based on a folder somewhere on your phone.

a question you did not ask: did you restore from a previous note backup or did you setup your shiny new phone from scratch?

to address why they show up in your recycle folder..,

is there a copy of those photos still in the photo list as well as the recycle list? or are they just moving directly to the recycle folder?

I set up my "shiny new phone" using Samsung Smart Switch coming from Note 3 which didn't have a recycle folder.

As per post # 5 (although badly spelled...lol) Every time I empty the recycle folder it eventually adds more photos in there with copies still in the original folders.

So I shoot a photo and it goes into the camera folder, then a few hours later that same photo is in the recycle folder.

If I shoot 10 photos 2 or 3 may go to the recycle folder.

I've tried to delete the recycle folder but it comes back.

ok so the cloud switch may be playing some issue here.

that's the only difference between us--i did a build from scratch (this is my first samsung device and first carrier branding device in a long time) so no restoring of photos or anything and you used the switch app to retrieve or sync from a previous device to the new note 8.

well since you dont have samsung cloud setup, this may explain why the recycle folder is there, but why certain photos go to trash is weird indeed. can you "restore" these photos that are in the recycle folder BACK to their original folder?

what version app are you on? i have 5.3.07.402 and its latest build according to the app.

would you be willing to setup the samsung cloud storage? its free and this would most likely enable the "trash" folder plus "cloud view" and "image analysis".

if nothing else this would confirm the app is working as designed and the issue is likely unique to the way you setup up your phone.

I have the exact same version of the Gallery as you have.

I will go ahead tomorrow and set up a Samsung account.

Just a quick question first: do you know what exactly the point is in having a Samsung account?
Is it just so I can store my media there, or is there something more to it?

Thanks for your help.

Much appreciated.

Samsung have their own ecosystem of sorts--they have a browser, gallery, Samsung store.. you can earn "points" by using some products on your phone (using bixby can earn you up to 10K points to use in their "store"). They even have their own cloud storage system. They want you to use their services.

I signed up for it because this is my first experience with Samsung and i want to take full advantage of why that have to offer. I'm even suing their beta version of their browser over chrome....
