Redmi Note 4 locked. No backup. How to retrieve data.

My redmi note 4 is locked. Can i take backup of locked phone? Is there any way I can recover all my data, messages, pics, documents from my locked redmi note 4 phone? How can I unlock Redmi Note 4 without losing any data. After restoring to factory settings can I recover data that was wiped?

locked? how so? are we talking carrier locked? or you forgot your lockscreen pin? what is locked?
