Help reformatting droid sd card help

Ok, so i need to reformat my sd card. It came from an R2D2 droid, and I am now using it in an OG droid. I believe there are some corrupted files on it that are causing my phone to freeze.

1- Is it better to reformat from the phone or through a card reader?
2- If using a card reader, a. will a cheap one work so long as it accepts micro sd cards and b. do I need to download a program to my computer to actually do the formatting?

Thanks for any help! Dulce

I repolied to your other post, but I'll say it here too - first, get thos apps and make your backups and then delete your call log an SMS log. It might save you the trouble of having to format.

However, if you can get a hold of a microSD card reader for your computer's USB port, even borrowing one, it will save you a lot of trouble - formatting with your phone will take some time and you definitely want to perform a full format as opposed to a quick format.

If you're stuck formatting on your phone, make a backup at least on your computer via the USB cable, and keep it plugged in to your phone and computer (to keep the battery charging). Unmount the SDCard, then format it from Settings.
