Help Refreshing Signal without Restarting

Hey Everyone: I was unable to find simular posts, so please feel free to link me if I missed one!

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab through T-Mobile. Love it so far.

What I want to know is if there is a way to refresh the cellular connection without refreshing the phone. For example, as I am going from place to place, I may go from a 3g to a 2g or even a non-signal place, but when I return to a place where I know there is a signal, I will either have to wait a very long time for it to refresh itself, or I will have to restart the whole Tab, successfully bringing up the correct singal.

Is there a way (perhaps in the settings or through an App) that I can ask the Tab to "refresh" the signal without having to restart the phone?

Thanks!

hi just press and hold d power button till the menu for phone option pop up,
select the deactivate network on the data network mode.
after 3 secs
then select the activate data network mode.
you should be commected after.

I keep mine in airplane mode to avoid searching for service when I don't have a 3G plan (used phone gifted via my brother-in-law and I don't need another monthly charge when WiFi-only works just fine) and run into the same issue with the WiFi. When I change hotspots, I sometimes need to pull the notifications bar down and turn WiFi off then back on in order for it to refresh and see the current hotspot.

Going through Settings and forcing a rescan of the networks sometimes works, but the other way always works, it seems.
