reguarding my messaging app

I have a samsung galaxy legend and my messaging app that came with my phone notifies me of a text but on the message app there is always a 1 with it saying that there is an unread message but i have checked my messages and have tried to go into the settings to clear data and everything and nothing is working. I need help! Any ideas on why its doing this it has happened before but i had someone help me with it and forgot how to fix the problem! Please help!

Are you using just the stock app, or is there also a third party app that's used? Also, do you recall if it is a carry-over from an MMS, or from what sender? If so, you can try to see if the sender can duplicate what was sent (group text, MMS, etc), then delete the entire thread.

I have deleted all of my texts from my phone and its just the original stock app no third party at all when i look at my phone on the bottom where it shows contacts and message and internet thats where the 1 is like i have an unread message

Sounds like you've done everything I would've in the same scenario. Have you blow spoken with your carrier to see if they have a suggestion?

Oh, you could always try using a third party app and see if it registers the same unread message. If not, that should provide a workaround until you find a fix.

Goto Settings-> Application Manager -> All application -> Search for 'BadgeProvider'
Select it and 'Clear Data'.
You need to restart your phone after clearing the data.*

Try this out and see if it helps.
