Regular Razr Navigation Dock With a Case?

I know the Razr Maxx Navigation dock won't fit if the phone has a case but will the Navigation Dock for the regular Razr fit?

I have an Otterbox Commuter case if it matter.

TIA.

Why would you expect a dock that's made for a thinner phone to work with a thicker phone? Even with the insert removed, a naked MAXX doesn't fit properly in the RAZR dock unless some tinkering has been done. The dock barely fits the RAZR with some cases, so it's not going to fit the MAXX with a case unless there's some modifications.

It does work, but it is not perfect, it is a bit difficult to do. I have a Maxx and use a regular Razr dock with the insert removed from the dock. I am able to mount the Maxx with a regular silicone cover on it into the dock with a little bit of work (You must line up the connection so it will slide in by pushing it forward from behind), and just a little bit more effort is needed for the Otterbox Commuter case to mount. I have used the dock with both cases and it does work, just a matter of how much effort you want to put into it. I mainly stick with the silicone case now because it is easier to mount into the dock, and it fits better into the side pouch I use (Verizon one). Commuter is tighter in both, but it is the better case IMHO.
Additionally if you are going to get the Razr mount, buy the Motorola one from Amazon that includes the additional cable. You spend less than at the Verizon store and get more.

well you must of done something to that moto nav dock as the maxx will not fit in the razr dock. The charger pins do not line up as the phones are different thicknesses and the maxx will not stay in the razr dock

As I stated in my previous post, You must remove the insert(liner), and it only works with a case on the Maxx. A bare Maxx probably does not fit in well, it would be too loose (although I have not tried it). Also in my previous post I stated that you must work it a bit, pushing the charger pins forward from the back. I can assure you I have done nothing else, and it DOES work.

Thanks everyone. The reason I asked about the regular Razr dock is I read somewhere that it has a removable insert where the Maxx dock does not. I haven't looked at these things yet so that's why I'm asking.

Does the dock have speakers in it?
I see they mention "noise canceling" so I'm assuming it has a mic and some electronics.

Just looking for options.

Yes the Razr dock has the removable insert, the Maxx dock does not (I have both). No speakers or anything, the noise cancellation is part of the dock mode that it switches to automatically when inserted into the dock.

Thanks pacet911 !

I am using my DX2 Nav Dock lol. I took out the insert and removed the charger and HDMI ports as well. I then added two little rubber feet(not sure from where) in the middle to support the phone. When the latch closes I only don't have access to my volume rocker. I set the volume to about 90%. Plug in the AUX and Charger and slip it in. Works like a charm. Can't use a case though. But I go commando anyways so that isn't an issue for me.

I just knocked this out and it was pretty simple.

The plastic piece in middle of the dock with the Motorola M on it pops out revealing 6 screws. I removed them and then cut the mount to fit using a hacksaw and then a rotary tool. Screwed it back together and it works perfectly.
