Remembering old technology (Pagers, brick phones, etc)

Remember dial-up? I think that was the centerpoint of my childhood. We had the 'net when I was 10 and I used to always get pissed when someone would call and knock me off :)

I remember before dial-up, when you dialed into BBS systems for online.

and this was my very first computer, anyone have one of these? I was about 9 when I got my first one and had a subscription to Family computing (which later became family and home office computing) Ah the memories of typing in hundreds of lines of BASIC code.

I used to have a PacWest pager back in the early-mid 90's and a Motorola StarTAC analog phone in the late 90's, big pimpin! The phone was cool, but because it was so small the battery life SUCKED! I still remember it: 10 hours stand-by, 15 MINUTES talk time! Unless you had the car cable with you, you had to keep your phone conversations short! So all you Droid Incredible owners can shut up about short battery life with medium-heavy usage! I still have that little bugger around someplace, too.

You know what makes one feel old? When people in their 20s say, "remember when..." about things that only happened 10-15 years ago. Pagers? Hell, I remember when we thought a couple of cans and a string were the answer to our neighborhood kid spy organization.

I had a couple of pagers - useful enough for work, but not really a big deal for me otherwise. I wasn't all that interested in being reached all the time.
