None of the above! :D

Built in, stock calendar for recurring, date sensitive appointments and reminders or stock alarm for individual ones.

You seem to have split this posting into 2 parts in the forum!

Sorry, for confusing. This was my first time message on androidforums, I supposed the poll is the part of message...
You are minimalist :)

try to set up something what you have to do every 5 hours in stock app...
If you need to take pills and set it up as recurrent, it cover all other appointments and your calendar view become useless.

The stock app allow exact or close to exact scheduled alarm. When there is a need to have a "random" scheduled alarms over a period of time, then the stock app cannot provide. It will be too exact for our liking.

You may ask why would ppl need "random" alarms but suffice to say one of my relatives actually need that. For that I just release an app of this nature called Random Reminder in the Android market.

For that I would use the alarm. :D

seems little bit off topic to me. Or does not exact alarms something to do with reminding me to take pills in 5 hours intervals? Explain pls.
