Remote Access to Windows XP

A guy I know at work says he is able to work remotely using his iPad, connecting to his Windows XP PC that is docked at his office. Since Android tablets can easily support a mouse and keyboard, I figured this could be a great way for me to work from home without always bringing my laptop home.

Are there any great remote access apps that would work from a Nexus 7 / 10 (haven't decided which way to go yet) to a Windows PC? It would need to be very quick and fluid, no screen lag or graphics slowdown. I'd mainly be working with Excel and Powerpoint files, nothing terribly processor intensive. Wouldn't all of the processing still be on the PC side, not the tablet? The tablet is just a viewing window and input device to the actual PC sitting at my cube.

I'd love to make this work, and it would certainly help me justify a tablet purchase. Let me know if you've had any success with this.

Team viewer is probably your simplest solution. As for processing power, the tablet can easily handle an office suite. But in a case of remote administration, the responsiveness will be dependent of your network speed. This'll be the case with any software or application you choose to use. There are others besides teamviewer but none I know of to be completely free and reliable.

Wow, can't thank you enough for that advice. Just threw it on my Galaxy Nexus and it worked like a charm. Any insight into how well it would work on an Android tablet with either a bluetooth keyboard or a keyboard dock, like the Transformer Prime has? If so, I will definitely be considering a 10-inch tablet Android tablet. I have to work on the weekends quite a bit, and if I could just whip out my tablet at home while leaving my computer at work, that's a huge selling point for me.

I use LogMeIn, very similar to team viewer, in conjunction with my Zagg Flex keyboard to work on the road. It's a pretty good solution.
