Remote connect to windows, control command prompt

Im trying to find a way to remotely connect to my desktop and control its file system using the command prompt, hopefully as only text so to cut down on bandwidth usage. Any Ideas on how to do it?

Ive already been able to RDP but all that information killed my dataplan.
