I want to use my Android Galaxy note to access my windows Laptop BUT not over the internet since my smartphone will always be within 3 meters of my laptop.

What application can do this ?

If you have WIFI you can use the AllShare app. You will need to install the desktop AllShare server AllSharePCSW.exe.

If you're running a ver of windows that supports rdp* (remote desktop protocol) it should be lots faster than vnc and you won't have to install any type of server.

I love wyse pocketcloud on android for an rdp client.

*XP Pro, Win7 Ult, win7 enterprise do. Not sure about the other win7 vers but I know xp home does not.

I second pm_phone....I use Teamviewer all the time....You just have to swear on your mothers life you are not using it for business purposes...:) ..they want you to pay for that....

Teamviewer app is free for android. add the free host software to the PC, and fully control it from android device.
I can not get TeamViewer to connect over WIFI just over 3G. I would hate to have to use it in any other than emergencies. But it does work like a charm for anything you want to do with the computer remotely. If you have the thing set up and the pin in your phone ahead of time.

I am glad you asked. Team Viewer will work over WIFI, I finally got it to work on WIFI just now. But this thing puts your entire desktop on your phone screen and you can move around and open up programs, enter data etc just as if you were at the computer.

I might use it in an emergency, but can see no need to use it if I am here. It is a PIA to mess around on the phone screen.

I initially thought you wanted to access your media (pictures, videos, music) over WIFI on your phone. There are many other apps that work with WIFI to to that which are way more simpler to use than Team Viewer.

If that is what you want to do, then check out Qloud or Plex an app that streams from the computer to phone the media. The All Share app (DLNA) works great for transferring from phone to computer, computer to phone etc, but I do not like streaming with it because it is cumbersome to me to have to check of each song I want to listen to one at a time.
