Help remove annoying Volume slider? S5

Lurker
Galaxy S5 Kit Kat, not rooted. It is very annoying when watching a video and decided to adjust the volume up or down. That giant volume control slider, you know the one that does the exact same thing as the button I pushed to make it pop up. Pops up and blocks a large amount of the screen. I am not sure exactly why i need a visual cue that the thing I'm listening to is getting louder when I push the volume up, or quieter when i push the down button. But no matter it gets real old having to constantly rewind a video to rewatch whatever just happened underneath this thing. :)

So in short. anybody know how to turn this off?

Hmm I have an app called Noyze that makes an unobtrusive lil line at top of screen instead but can't seem to find it on Play and I don't remember if it requires root. Have a look yourself and see if you can find it

Looks like this

You can change the colour and (i think) make it transparent

Are you using the native video player app? Have you tried MX Video Player? I've used the app for years. I don't find the volume slider very obtrusive (see screen shot).
Cheers,
Keith
