Remove Facebook

Lurker
I've successfully deleted by facebook account from facebook.com but I can't seem to delete it from my Droid. I drag it to the trash can and it seems to delete but actually never goes away. I select "update app" and it does not show the usual "uninstall" option, just "update." Is there any way to get this annoyance off of my Droid? Thanks.

It must have been included on your phone as bloatware if there is no option to uninstall. I don't know about your specific device, but you would probably need to root to delete it.

It's a Motorola from Verizon. I bought it when the Droid was first introduced. I downloaded the facebook app sometime and used it for awhile. Thanks.

If you dl'd it you should be able to uninstall. Go to phone settings, applications, manage apps, tap menu, filter:all, tap facebook, see if you have the option to uninstall there.

It's probably treating it as a stock app and if that's the case you'd have to root to get rid of it.

Thought I was onto something there but the uninstall button along this all others except "clear data" is grayed out. I'm starting to think this is very much like facebook itself which makes it very difficult to actually delete an account as opposed to deactivating one. Thanks.

I said I d/l'd it but I guess it could have come with the phone. Probably will have to root it. Thanks.
