Root Remove or disable boot screen / logo / animation

Hello all,

I have a rooted eris running "Eris_Official_0.8.1T2" rom. I have seen threads about how to change the boot logo / animation, but not one on how to remove the animation entirely. I would like the verbose boot to display on startup if possible. Has anyone done this? I have seen something similar with the android on iphone (at 1:53 in the video):

You can delete what is inside the zip, if you do delete it you will get a black screen, that's the only way I know of how to delete the boot screen. Because if you just delete the zip you will still get the android boot screen. I mean if you want to get rid of your boot screen to speed Up the boot deleting what's inside the zip should help because then the phone doesn't have too render anything.
