Help Remove Recent Apps From Pulldown?

Is there a method to remove the recent apps that appear in the notification pulldown? It's redundant given that you can just long press the home key for the same thing and it takes up screen real estate.

Some Roms have the ability to remove it. You should look into installing custom ROMs if you haven't already.

Long press home button brings up recent apps, slide them to the side and they are removed from list and pull down .
