Remove the case while charging or not

I recently bought the otterbox defender case for my S3,is it better to remove the case while charging or not, does the phone get overheated as I charge the phone overnight

My wife has the defender on her S3, that thing is tough to get off. She hasn't had any problems with charging since she got it a few weeks ago.

I think the phone heats up more during heavy use than charging. I know that when I use Maps on my drives (which is almost all the time), the phone really heats up. I don't notice the phone heating up when I charge it.

I also leave my case on while charging i dont notice it heating up unless i am using it alot while it is charging
