Help Remove WatchOn

MartinS

Android Expert
I got my new Galaxy Tab S and found that the preinstalled WatchOn app is no longer in service.
According to Samsung support it should be removable but I can neither uninstall or disable it, leaving a useless app and useless icon in the app draw.

Any help please?

I would like to know as well, but since it's integrated into the Magazine Home as one of the widget options.
So it probably will need to be removed via a firmware update.

Guess we will need to see what happens after June 15th when, WatchOn, and a couple of other app's are removed.

Does the 5.1.1 update still contain Watchon?
I have been really "nervous" about updating to Lollipop (Still on whatever the latest "KitKat" was).
So I guess on a "Side Note": Would you say that updating the Tab-S 10.5 is pretty "Smooth" in your opinion. I've been putting it off for prob over a month bc of all the big problems I've read about with OTHER devices (i.e. Nexus 7). My Galaxy S-5 updated fine though.
Thanks in advance for any input. - Joe

My Nexus 5 is fantastic on 5.1.1 so I'm not worried about the Galaxy Tab S when the OTA finally comes to the UK.

I'm not going to install it myself either though since I literally just browse the web, watch movies TV etc and plkay games on the Tab. I'm far less bothered about the OS than with a phone.

You can uninstall WatchOn with 5.0.2 update. It is left on until you uninstall it which is a bid odd though.

On my Tab S 10.5 with 5.0.2 update, the only option for the WatchOn app is to Force Stop. Disable is grayed out, no way to uninstall. Must be different for the UK version.
