Help Removing annoying Huawei main screen

wuggyf88

Newbie
Hi,

I just got my first smartphone, the Huawei U8800.

I was wondering - how do I get rid of this screen altogether?

And make this screen the default when I press the

button?

Thanks!

Welcome wuggy!
I moved your thread here to your device forum so other can help:)
It appears you want the app drawer to be your home screen?

Thanks a lot Mikestony!

Yeah basically I want to remove that main screen thing and any software, graphics etc. associated with it.

I just want the pure and simple black background default Android screen thing and that's it... no fancy animated backgrounds, no big clocks or weather reports. If I want the weather report I'll just look outside the window.. lulz

To quote this dude:

It seems that perfection is reached not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

Well you probably can long press on any of those apps/widgets and drag them to the trash can, leaving you with an empty screen.
You can also change your wallpaper to anything else you like, such as a black background.:)
And you can add any app or widget you like to the screen.
Is that what you mean?
I hope I understand what you want:p

You're talking about this one right? The default Android one?

The problem is this one (the whole thing):

It must be something Huawei added. Is it as simple as removing some pre-installed Huawei app?

It's kinda like having two different operating systems on my mobile, very confusing. It's got its own weird multi-workspace thing, the UX is horrible and it's impossible to set a plain black background. So whenever I wanna use the default Android screen, I first have to go through this thing and then press this button:

when in reality the only button I should have to relate to would be this one:

Thank you!

1cVw7im.png
which is a physical button on my phone takes me to the Huawei desktop, whereas

is a software button in my Huawei desktop which takes me to the default Android desktop. Or app drawer or whatever you wanna call it :)

Pretty confusing eh? :)

You can remov those apps that are on your homescreen (the screen with the weather on it). You can also remove the weather widget from the home screen.

You can add whatever app you like to that homescreen.
You only have one app drawer.
When you swipe your homescreen left and right, other screens appear correct?

Edit: I wish I had that phone in my hand to see what you are experiencing.

The problem is that it seems like Huawei has added their own homescreen on top of the default Android one. I guess they wanna do like Apple and create their own signature user experience.

I just received my masters in user experience design and this is by far one of my worst user experiences ever :)

If anyone knows how to remove this Huawei wrapper I'd be much obliged :)

No, I want to know how to remove that Huawei home screen so I don't have to go through such a detour to get to the default Android home screen that's all.

Thanks!

Yep. And the problem is that Huawei has added their own app drawer on top of the default Android one. So I wanna remove the Huawei one :)

o.k....humor me and long press on the weather widget..does an icon appear that looks like a trash can or a delete icon or something?
If so, you can drag it there to get rid of it, or take your finger off of the screen and nothing will change.

I actually don't have the phone with me right now, but I'm more interested in removing the whole Huawei thing altogether if that's possible.

I'll try what you said when I get to the phone tomorrow morning though.

Hi wuggyf88, Just to help I hope. Anything you have in Gallery ie. photos or themes or backgrounds, you can display on screen > Menu > More > Set as > Wallpaper if you want.

I would suggest you take a photo of the view you want, then do the above. Neil.

Further to my previous Post, when you touch the Menu > Wallpaper > Wallpapers > slide the screen to Left > all the wallpapers can be viewed.
Cheers Neil.

I have a similar problem with my HUAWEI G510-0100:
the custom Huawei home screen completely replaces standard Android application drawer!
Indeed, any time I install a new app, a warning message appears "shortcut already exists"; this is because there is NO application drawer on this phone, only a home screen: deleting an icon/app from the home screen results in uninstalling the app!
Or you can see it in another way: there is no home screen, only app drawer, so you can't create shortcuts to apps, you can only list ALL installed applications! From this point of view, it looks like the "home screen" is "compressed" in the lower bar, which can contain up to five icons, eache one can be just one app or a folder containing multiple apps.

Can this "feature" be "fixed"?

Hi jumpjack, You have the Huawei Ascend model and although it's Huawei, I am not familiar with the model.
Have you tried the suggestions posted for wuggyf88?
Have you Posted your question in the Ascend Forum? Neil.
