Help Removing Email Previews

Hi there,
New to the forums, so bare with me.

I have the Cubot Note S, running V5.1, my first Android Phone, and over all I'm loving it.

There's one issue that's really bugging me. I'm a stickler for privacy, and I hate the fact that whenever I get an email, it shows the sender and content of the email in the notification bar.

I would prefer a simple "1 New Email" notification in the notification bar.

I've managed to get that on the Lock Screen, but when the phone is unlocked, it still shows the sender and content.

In fact, I've just noticed that Facebook does it as well. "X, Y & Z commented on your photo/post" and it goes on to show the first couple lines.

Is there an app that can do this?
Preferably free, as I'm a poor college student xD

There are many different email apps out there which will be more customisable than the built-in app. AquaMail certainly has the option you want (I just tested, and with the privacy option in the message notification settings set all it does it tell me there is one new message and which account that is in). I expect that MailDroid does too, as that one is also very customisable. Both of those are free with paid options. I'd be a bit surprised if the venerable K9 mail (which is simply free) won't do it, but it's so long since I used that that I can't be sure. Probably many others too.
