My boyfriend has a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime phone. He inadvertently selected "yes" and changed his default text messages to Facebook Messenger. He does NOT want to use FB Messenger for text messages. We have tried NUMEROUS times to switch back to SMS Messages without any success!!! I have deleted the Messenger app, rebooted the phone, but still cannot receive text messages on his SMS Messages. It shows there is a message, but cannot view one when you open it. Also, when he would receive a new text message, it would show in the notification bar at the top of the phone, but now NOTHING!! Very frustrated with Facebook!! Any suggestions would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

Settings/Applications/Default applications

find the item for "message app" and clear it out. bingo!! it is gone.
or, if the desired app is already installed, just tap on it, and the other one will be ignored.
then you can uninstall it completely.

Now, the next time you send a message, you will get a chance to make your new/desired app the Default SMS app.

Package Disable Pro is a very useful tool for Samsung phones, you must get it.

* package disabler pro - Android Apps on Google Play

Or open Messages and go to its settings and select a default messaging application there! Either should work.
