I had the same problem, here's what happened to me:
Originally (before 2.2 upgrade) had Z4Root and Titu - worked great
After 2.2 upgrade I was able to root with Z4Root and used Titu to remove about 20% of bloat, however, I got the "connot find apk" on most so:
I got gingerbreak to root
and root explorer to remove apps in the /system/app folder.
Good Luck.

Same rooting method (Gingerbreak here) but I used the adb shell to delete the bloatware in the /cust/metropcs/us/app folder :)

i just recently bought my m835. I already managed to root it and put the super user app. I also got root explorer installed to remove the apps. I mounted on the "r/w" to delete the .apk files under /cust/metropcs/us/app. but each time i try delete an app a message comes out saying (cannot delete .apk file because the file system is read-only)

ive tried everything.... i think, i already checked if my phone was really rooted or not with terminal emulator.... and yes it is rooted

dont know if im doing something wrong, please help

They only thing I can think of is two things:
1. When I use root explorer the "Mount R/W" button some times changes when I drill down to a folder. So each time you drill down to a folder make sure it reads "Mounted as r/w and the button says Mount R/O"
2. The version of root explorer is not compatible (there's diff versions out there)
Good Luck

@printsweet

i tried checking the 2 problems you gave me, so i went and downloaded a more recent root exp, n that didnt work

so i went ahead n checked if it was mounted on "r/w" or "r/o"
sure enough it said "r/o"
but it also said something else

"dev/block/mtdblock (r/o)"

Did you try deleting apps after it said that? I want to say its incompatible but...I'm not really sure.

Print is right though, you sure you're using a recent, compatible Root Explorer? I think my friend's using 1.20...can't be sure.

Also, after successful rooting, I have only had to hit that button once, per folder opened. Once again, if I closed the folder.

Close out of all and start where the menu shows / at the very top.

From there, go down about 4 folders to cust. From there go down to metropcs. Should be only one folder, us. Tap that. Go to app.

Viola. All the Apps in there that are Metro, you can safetly delete nearly all of them, however I'd advise against deleting metroappstore.apk, MetroBackup.apk and if its in there, MetroWebBroswer, unless of course, you already downloaded a far superior and better browser.

To Delete, simply press and hold on the apk you wish to annihilate, and press Delete. If you get the Error "Read-Only", then go to the top where the /, should be replaced by letters now. Click the tiny button under it that says R/W once, it should say R/O or vice versa. After that try again and it should delete.

However, that may not be all the Bloatware, if the apps you need to get rid of are not in there, then you will have to go back out to the main menu. To back out to the correct folder, press Back 4 times till you get the / by itself. Go down to system, *not sys*, then app, should be the first. There, you'll see several apps, the phone's core apps. Feel free to delete any of the ones listed in this thread,( http://androidforums.com/m835-all-things-root/396708-list-safe-apps-remove.html ) especially that useless PGA_Widget.apk, that's the 100% free Games. Any apps you don't know, don't touch, better ask first. And do NOT touch anything with Google. Be very careful you don't delete something from there, it may not be recoverable, such as the mms.apk, which is your Messanging App, which is what you use to Text.

Hope this helps. ._.

Forget all that shit and just get Rom Toolbox Pro.
Way easier to uninstall bloat and any system app in general.
Even if your a scumbag who wont pay its easy to find the newest versions apk for free.
The day i bought and installed this app i was able to delete 5-6 other root only apps that did what this one program does for me now.

clicking the mount R/W doesnt change anything for me....any thoughts?
That means your phone isn't rooted, try rerunning GingerBreak again.

3.0.5 I believe some didn't update correctly and had to re-root to get it working again. When an update failed, it noted that the phone was no longer rooted, a bad update.
