removing screen lock slider

Newbie
I have an HTC Evo 4G running Android 2.3.3. I have a pattern set up to protect my phone after 5 minutes, but I don't want to also have to use the screen lock slider. Is there a way to disable it? Within that first five minutes, I want the phone to just wake up, outside of that I want to unlock it with my pattern only.

Semi-related, how do I eliminate the half-moon phone bar at the bottom of the screen?

Thanks.

I'm not sure how to get rid of the slider. You can try Widget Locker or Go Locker and see if they offer the option.

You can get rid of the phone bar by installing a custom launcher. The best ones are Go Launcher, Launcher Pro, ADW Launcher, or Zeam Launcher.

Hey, thanks guys. I'll have to look into your replies a little more tonight or tomorrow, but I appreciate the help.

I'm a complete Android Newb, so I'm seeing cool stuff that my friend has done and traying to wrap my head around the stuff I'd like to do.

I do know from reading other threads that the No Lock app, disables all locks - if you remember, I do want to keep my gesture passcode.
