Removing the dock icons

Curious to know how to remove the icons in the dock. I am using LauncherPro plus. I know I can replace them but I like to remove certain icons leaving the place blank. Is it possible?

Long press the icon you want removed and select change shortcut, then at the top of the menu there should be a red X that says blank. That will get rid of the icon all together.

Another option is to use a blank icon. There wont be any picture in that icons place but if you select it you will still be able to link to an app.
