I don't think that there is a setting for repeated sound notification exists for the unread messages. You may note it by LED light indicator only. Otherwise you may check it on play store if there is any.

I've played with my phone quite a bit and couldn't find one. I've installed BubbleBuzz which gives you the option of a "sound" reminder at different intervals, for however long you want. Thank you anyway!

There are several apps that can do this. Or if you use Handsent SMS it can do it along with several other useful features.
