Replace Messaging Icon

Got a new SGS2. Not rooted yet.
Went thru many threads and couldn't find the answers.
1. Anyone know how I can replace the Messaging icon
(one of the 4 icons at the bottom of the screen) with
GO SMS?
note: I went to managing apps. Launch by default =
No default set.
2. Any notification apps you can recommend? One that can set the sms reminder, appt or task due, missed call, etc...

Press the Apps icon
Menu>Edit
Drag the message icon from the bottom line up to the main screen
Drag the GO SMS icon down from the main screen to the bottom line
