Replacement battery

Lately with little to no use and the Juice Defender app running my battery can not last the full day. I take my phone off charge at 8 AM and by 5 PM when I am off work and take my phone out of desk drawer after probably not being used at work it has 33% battery left. Should I check FB or email when I get home the battery quickly drains with very little use to the point where I must immediately place it back on charge or it turns off. On an average day I probably use my phone for 10-15 mins to surf facebook and email and usually do not have any call time. In addition to the battery draining, I have also noticed lately that general operations have been slow and lagging on times. I don't know if this is related to my battery losing power or not.

Right now I'm trying to decide between either:

(1) Cashing in on the no questions asked warranty my service provider offered and trading up my phone at a cost of $50 to me for the S3. (My only fear with this is that if I trade up now that a new galaxy will come out shortly after I trade up - if that is the case I would rather wait)

(2) Buying a replacement battery or two with a battery charger so I can have a new battery with a back up battery to swap out should I use a full charge in one day as long as I can get them for less than the $50 I would have to pay for the S3.

I'm willing to bet if I went to my service provider I would have to pay more than $50 CAD for a Samsung replacement battery. Has anyone purchased a battery from eBay or Amazon for a reasonable price. I don't mind buying one that is not an exact replacement as long as it is something that is compatible and won't fry my phone.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Try the following:-

1. Factory Reset

2. Re-calibrate your battery.

3. I would not use Juice Defender, or any type of task killer for that matter, as these mask the problems with battery drain and do not solve them. In fact, a task killer can increase your battery usage. See, here.

Instead I would be looking at app's that are constantly running in the background, such as Facebook, Twitter, Location, etc: This thread is useful for helping you conserve battery. Particularly post #5...
