Replacement for Action Memo

John Jason

Action Memo suits me fine, but ever since the Kit Kat update it crashes when I try to open an old memo or a new memo. Hence, I am looking for a replacement. I want something that it will pop up when I pull out the S-Pen like Action Memo does.

PS: It has been suggested that I clear the data for Action Memo. I did so, and thus lost my old memos, but it still crashes when I try to open a new memo. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but I cannot uninstall it because I can't find it in the Play Store. I also uninstalled and reinstalled SPenSdk, but it made no difference.

Also, after reading all the things that Evernote demands that I allow it to do, I want no part of it.

I use Papyrus. It is a free app, I have mine set to launch the app on removal of spen. It doesn't have all the features such as dialing etc, but it is an available note thats easy to access. I personally don't like the S-Note or action memo on note 3....I wish they left it same as the note 2.

Papyrus is perfect! Thanks for the suggestion.

Only one problem, I can't figure out how to make it launch automatically when the S-Pen is removed. I disabled Action Memo, in Settings > Controls > S-Pen > Pen detachment options, but the only options were None (currently selected), Action Memo, and Air Command. How do I make Papyrus appear there as an option? Or is there a different place to set it up so that it launches automatically when the S-Pen is detached?

I have this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tushar.spen_helper

Only reason I use it, is to customize the sound that the phone makes when pulling the s-pen out and placing it back into the slot (wanted to use lightsaber nofication, without needing to root).

That said, it allows you to set whatever application you want to open, when you pull the s-pen out. So, you can link it to S-note, evernote, or whatever other note application you want to use instead of action memo.
