Replacement Phone after Update Brick

bamcclure

Lurker
Received the OTA update from T-mobile and it bricked my phone. They are sending what they call a "Newer-like-new" phone (used phone.....) and the brick will be sent back.

Question:

1. If somebody rooted their phone with the stock rom, should they do anything to it before returning it?

They only mentioned cosmetic damage when going over what voided the warranty.

As far as I know, rooting voids your warrant, but I don't think they'd go through the trouble of finding out if it was originally rooted, if they even can once it's bricked.

If it were me (and it was, FYI) I would have just flashed the .tar from XDA (official ota update, just manually done). Would have taken 5 minutes and you'd get to keep your device, with all of your apps, settings, and files. A little research goes a long way.
