Help Replacing a htc one sv touchscreen

My phone got frenched in the rain recently. Seemed okay that evening, byt by the next day problems began to occur. I took the battery out and tried to dry it for a while, hoping that would cure the problem, which it did, partially. However, a small section on the top of the screen and larger section on the bottom right of the screen became fully unresponsive. More drying attempts, this time in a bag of rice for 12-24 hours. No improvement.

I took it to a shop and they investigated, said the motherboard was fine and its definitely the screen. To replace it will cost $140AU.

I can see the touchscreen on ebay for $50Au from HK. (I am in Melbourne, Australia). Or buy via ebay for $99.99 with the tools required and instructions.

Is this a job which is relatively simple??? Is it easy for the installation to go fatally wrong for the novice???

Is there definitely no other trick I can try to heal the small areas of the touchscreen which do not work anymore???

It's trivial for soemone who's replaced a few dozen screens or more. For someone who's never done it? You'll break something. Buying a part to replace what you broke will cost you a little more. When you replace that part you'll brek something else. Etc., etc.

You're paying $90 for years of experience and practice on broken phones. (You pay a doctor a lot more for a cast for a broken leg than the $3 worth of fiberglass and resin.)

My advice to anyone thinking of replacing the screen on his phone is DON'T!

As far as a wet phone goes, read Wet Phone and whatever you do now, you'll be lucky if the phone lasts until you want to replace it. (Rain is one of the worst forms of water for a phone, it's acidic and full of minerals. Drinking water is less damaging.)
