Help Replacing LCD - Problem!

Lurker
My LCD display does not work because the flexible ribbon cable broke. It's a shame that a cheap little ribbon broke so I have to buy a whole new LCD. But that's not what I have a problem with. By the way, the phone works fine, touchscreen and all, just no LCD.

When I was removing the broken cable, there was a black tape stuff covering where the cable connects (previously in the circled area in the picture below)

When I removed this black tape, it ripped the jaw connector which holds the LCD ribbon on (I know nothing about electronics so I don't know how to word it).

As you can see, there is supposed to be a white jaw connector where I circled in the picture.

Now, I'm willing to purchase a whole new LCD, I just want to know how I can get by without having this jaw connector. I know for a fact I won't be able to find a replacement for this tiny part. Any suggestions?

I have already purchased the LCD replacement (there was a big black spot on my LCD anyway), but right now I'm wondering if I need a motherboard replacement?

If that jaw connector is not present, and there is very slight damage to the connector I circled in the picture, can anyone tell me if it will still work properly?
